  1. Being photographed by Julie & Johnie with these antique processes is like having an outwardly induced meditation experience. You stand very still while you can see them bustle around to get the light, and then change the negative two or three times. You are confronted with the juxtaposition of your mind and the movement in the world outside. Digital photos feel careless in comparison—a millisecond of motion captured by a photographer in motion and just as quickly erased and forgotten. But with the antique processes, the moment is expanded to more than a moment so that it feels like you can plunge inside of it and explore it from the inside out.
